December 2016: Short Story – Whatever Happened to Frosty?

By Addison Wallace

Have you ever wondered what happened to Frosty the Snowman after he melted? The cycle called transpiration is the process the snowman went through. It’s a system in which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere.    Essentially the snowman melted and lived up in the clouds for a year. He met new friends such as Laural the Giraffe, Emmy the Unicorn, Jordyan the Square, Gingerbread Man and his pet, the Candy Cane Dog, and Roxy the Slithering Snake. On the platform in the clouds, Craigle the bull ruined the jolly land.

He tripped Frosty and always got him in trouble. Frosty, the Gingerbread Man, the Candy Cane dog, and Roxy the Slithering Snake all went on an adventure beyond the clouds. Craigle followed. Frosty found a cave in the clouds that looked friendly enough to walk in. He shouted, “Come here!” As they all stepped into the cave, something began to glisten from a distance. As they crept towards the item, they found Santa’s hat.

The candy cane dog jumped to the hat as the Gingerbread Man ran after the dog. Candy cane knocked over the hat. Frosty ran over just as Santa did! Santa came to warn the snowman that it was almost winter.

Santa explained that that meant he was going down to the ground again. Frosty was sad. They went back to the village and he said his goodbyes as he slid down the slide to be snowed out.

As he fell back to the ground, he saw his friends and began the song again. Frosty was excited to see his favorite kids, but sad to leave his friends in the clouds.
