About 80 percent of United States households own a gas powered car or automobile. Will those numbers change within the next few years due to the increase of electric vehicles being produced each day?
The first electric car was made in 1884 by Robert Anderson. Since then, many advancements have been made to these types of cars. One of these first companies to only produce electric cars is Tesla. Tesla was founded in July of 2003 by Elon Musk. Unlike motorized, gas powered cars, electric cars have batteries that need charging every once in awhile. Just a few years ago, many people thought of electric cars as slow, boring vehicles. Elon Musk has made people rethink about the idea of electric cars with his new company. Teslas are fast, stylish and super reliable. Elon Musk’s newest release is what he says will “revolutionize” electric cars. His newest model is called the Tesla Roadster. The Roadster goes 250 miles per hour at top speed and a 621 mile range on one fully charged battery. The Roadster is often compared with the Bugatti Chiron. The Roadster beats the Chiron in almost every aspect at just a fraction of the cost. The Bugatti Chiron costs an incredible $2.6 million while the Roadster is estimated to cost around $250 thousand. The electric car industry is making eco friendly cars at a low price.
Maybe by the time us junior high students are able to drive, the streets will be covered with electric cars.
