There are all types of dogs like the popular Labrador Retriever or German Shepherd. They’re are also mixes of dogs like a puggle, which is a pug and a beagle mixed together. But there is one dog I would like spotlight: the German Shorthaired Pointer. This dog originated from Germany in the 19th century. This specific species is a hunting dog. They’re very energetic and need lots of attention. Male German Shorthaired Pointers can stand between 23 and 25 inches tall and can weigh up to 55 to 77 pounds, and females can stand at 21 to 23 inches and can weigh 45 to 60 pounds. You can find these dogs in all different colors like black, white, and liver roan. They can live up to 12 to 15 years of age. Here some cool facts about the German Shorthaired Pointers:
These dogs have been used used to guard homes, pull sleds, and sniff bombs.
When they sprint they can go about 20 to 27 km/h compared to the human average speed of 10 to 16 km/h.
They can give birth up to 7 to 8 puppies on average.
They can suffer from dysplasia cancer, bloat, and disorders of eyes and blood.
The German Shorthaired Pointer is very good watchdog. It loudly barks when it detects unknown people at the door. Despite loud barking, German Shorthaired Pointers are not aggressive by nature.
These dogs are very fun to play with and very energetic.
