OMG: A Cinderella Situation

Being in fairytales is many little girls’ dream. Whether they want to experience the stories of Rapunzel, Ariel, Jasmine, Mulan, or Belle. One of our Grizzlies has encountered a situation similar to that of Cinderella! Although, it wasn’t exactly as magical as in the cartoon. Let’s start at the beginning.

It was a normal day at recess for this fourth grader. She was on the swings enjoying the day and the company of her friends when her shoe flew off. You can probably imagine where this story is going. There was another student walking by when the shoe fell off. He, being a decent human, picked up the shoe for her and put it back on the young girl’s foot. That may not seem like a huge deal, but it looked a lot like when Prince Charming put Cinderella’s shoe on her. It was also very obvious to the fourth grade community that the boy liked someone else, so it was even more dramatic. Instead of what happened in the Cinderella cartoon, the female of the situation felt shocked by the event, and even a little disgusted… For a while after the incident the two students were still fairly annoyed at how it had appeared. And even though this happened around four years ago, she can still vividly remember this fateful day. This less than magical experience still has her laughing when she reflects back on it.

Well, maybe fairytales are best left as mere fantasies. This experience is definitely proof that not all stories are meant to be lived out. I wonder what it would be like to come upon some of the other Disney princesses’ tales. Would the other stories be as disappointing as this one?
