Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone Book

Harry Potter is a magical book told wonderfully by J.K. Rowling. She has earned over 10 awards for the Harry Potter series alone. Set in London, 1991, a young boy named Harry Potter begins his remarkable journey of becoming a wizard. Harry starts as a small child living with his mean Aunt and Uncle Dursley, as well as their greedy son Dudley after his parents died in a car crash. During the incident Harry obtained a single lightning bolt scar on his forehead. Almost abruptly,  Harry began receiving letters from an unknown person who sent them straight to his cupboard under the stairs. Soon, we are introduced to the half-giant, Hagrid, who informs Harry of the strange and magical witch and wizard school called Hogwarts. Hagrid takes Harry shopping and we learn a very important secret that the Dursleys kept: Harry’s parents weren’t killed in a car crash, they were murdered by an evil wizard named Voldemort. Finally, Harry boards a magical train that will take him to Hogwarts. There, he met Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, who proceeded to become his best friends throughout the seven-book series. Upon arriving at Hogwarts, Harry had his first encounter with Draco Malfoy, a spoiled rotten, pure-blood.

Harry then grows accustomed to the daily life at Hogwarts, accompanied by Ron and Hermione. He even began playing a wizard sport called Quidditch, which is played on flying brooms and with four balls. Later, the trio goes on an adventure to find an important magic item called the Philosopher’s Stone before a certain evil professor gets to it.

All things considered, Harry Potter is an amazing book that is sure to send its readers into a whole new world magic filled world of quests. It is a great book to get cozy with on a couch and read. The only thing I don’t like is that the book is a bit slow-moving, but for all the incredible writing, it is definitely worth the wait. J.K. Rowling does an excellent  job of filling up the empty space with some details of how it is for the students at Hogwarts. She also does an amazing job of leaving the readers in suspense after each chapter. I loved this book and would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone.
