Team Trees

Recently, the Arbor Day Foundation partnered with several YouTubers in the hopes of raising $20 million by January 1, 2020. For each dollar raised, the Arbor Day Foundation will plant one tree.

On October 25, 2019, two YouTubers, called “Mr Beast” and “Mark Rober”, released videos about how they are trying to plant 20 million trees by the end of 2019. They hoped to achieve this by partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation. The foundation will plant a tree for every dollar donated. The Arbor Day Foundation, which was founded in 1972, is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to planting trees. Every year the foundation helps plant and distribute more than 10 million trees. If everything goes to plan, the money raised will plant trees in deforested and sparse areas, as well as in national parks and forests.

According to, being surrounded by trees can reduce stress levels. Also, the green color of tree leaves helps eyes recover from strain. Another equally important attribute of trees is their ability to reduce air temperature. They do this by reflecting sunlight off of their leaves and allowing water to evaporate from their leaves. When trees photosynthesize, they take in carbon dioxide, or CO2 and releases oxygen. Carbon is what makes up the bulk of trees. A large and healthy tree can absorb up to 15 pounds of carbon from the atmosphere in one year. As of November 10, 2019, $14,734,338 has been raised. Once all 20 million trees are full grown, they will put a serious dent in global warming. This project is a huge step in the right direction in making the world a better place.
